Arthritis Support Network launched: 2014

Arthritis Support Network Leader: Patrice                  Type of Arthritis: Polymyaglia  Rheumatica

About this Arthritis Support Network:

My vision for this group is to hold  monthly meetings that will vary in topics relating to arthritis. Diet, exercise, health and legislative updates are all important to arthritis patients. Group members' spouses, significant others and/or family members are welcome to attend the meetings.  We meet once a month, September through May.   I send out an email once a week to the members to update everyone on what is happening with our group as well Arthritis Foundation events. We also have teams for the Walk to Cure Arthritis (held in spring) and the Jingle Bell Run (held in winter.) Please join our group so that you are on the email list to receive updates and monthly meeting dates.

About Patrice:

I have 2 types of Arthritis. I have OA in my left knee . I also have Polymyaglia  Rheumatica (PMR).   I was the 2017 Adult Honoree for the Sacramento Walk to Cure Arthritis. I am also active in the Advocacy Summit meetings that take place every year at our State Capital. I just  recently acquired the Arthritis Support Network group leader Advocacy certification which will allow me to be a voice for arthritis patients on the federal level. In March 2018 I went to Capitol Hill along with other Advocates to meet with our legislators about Arthritis.  I am also a Community Outreach Volunteer and speak at various events in our area bringing awareness and education about Arthritis. I am the OA forum moderator for the Live Yes! online community.  In October 2018, I acquired my Platinum Advocacy Ambassador status.

Hi Kathy:

Thank you for your e-mail and for heading up the Sacramento Arthritis  Support Group.    I look forward to meeting you.  I was diagnosed with severe Rhuematoid Arthritis. Having RA limits my ability to be social among other things. I am married (33 years) and my wife and son, like your family members, completely support me in my well-being.  Yes, I agree there is a need for a support group for individuals coping with various forms of Arthritis. We lead a very different life than most.  Please continue to send me e-mails regarding any meetings/events.  Have a good day!    - Joe De Luca
