Live Yes! Connect for JA Parents launched: 2019

Live Yes! Connect for JA Parents Facilitator: Leanna

About this Live Yes! Connect group for JA Parents: To help support parents and caregivers who have a child with rheumatic disease understand ways of improving their child’s life with pain and help educate them about the disease. Live Yes! Connect let individuals know that they are not alone and gives them a voice to share with others.

About: Leanna

I am a 3rd generation psoriatic arthritis patient and the parent of a daughter with juvenile arthritis (psoriatic) who was diagnosed at 8 years old. (4th generation, woo hoo!). Fortunately, the bond my daughter and I share has helped us both to deal with this disease. Unfortunately, not being officially  diagnosed until later in life has lead to a prime example of WHY we need to control this disease in our kids! I am a nurse with many (won’t say how many, it really dates me!) years of experience which gives me a good look at the treatment from a 1)healthcare perspective, 2) from a patient’s perspective, and 3) a JA parent’s perspective. We are fully vested in the AF and their programs as they are an excellent resource for families. We do whatever we can to give back! (I volunteer as JA camp nurse every year.) My number one goal is to reach those families out there who are dealing with this diagnosis! First rule if JA Fight Club: NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!!
