About this Live Yes! Connect Group:
Our vision for this Live Yes! Connect group is that it will be a fun, warm space to connect with people and explore ways to thrive while living with arthritis/rheumatic diseases. We want people to feel comfortable sharing their experiences, but also keep each other/speakers in an uplifting mindset. This group doesn't look or feel like a stereotypical support group - we'll move around a lot, have fun, and laugh often!
This group is inclusive and accommodating to adults of all backgrounds and types of rheumatic diseases. Our meetings will adapt to everyone needs as we get to know each other. Your feedback is important. After every meeting, I plan to ask what the group would like to have at future meetings.
I have psoriatic arthritis and today I'm not in pain, but sometimes I am. I've only had arthritis for three years and am still learning about the disease and how to thrive with it. I take biologics for my arthritis and am really interested in how others manage their symptoms.
Other than that, I would like participants to know that I have a corgi named Falafel and she's precious. I might show a photo or two of her at meetings. Some fast facts about me are that I'm a U of M Graduate (Go Gophs!), wine and chocolate tasting enthusiast, and am a camper.
To start a conversation with me, ask me about my dog! Or where I like to camp. Or, of course, my arthritis.
My name is Erin, and I have been living with Psoriatic Arthritis since 2010 and was diagnosed with Reactive arthritis after an illness in January of 2017. I have had a few surgeries since 2010 and tend to have a couple of flare-ups each year. My experience has inspired me to support anyone with arthritis and/or autoimmune diseases in the area. I am grateful to have this opportunity, and I am passionate to help people!
I am excited to join Rachel in facilitating the South Minneapolis support group to provide supportive social connections for adults with all types of arthritis/ rheumatic diseases and to offer a place of understanding & encouragement. I believe my organizational skills and a lifetime of experience of living with a disability would be valuable in helping to grow this organization!
