Live Yes! Connect launched: 2018
Live Yes! Connect Facilitator: Christine Type of Arthritis: Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia
About this Live Yes! Connect Group:
My vision for this Live Yes! Connect group is to support and encourage others.
Christine (Chris) Togni’s “journey” began in 1991. As a wife and mother of 3, she began experiencing extreme pain and weakness in her arms, which she endured for nearly 2 years. Treatment options included pain medication and physical therapy. Her condition worsened to the point where she could no longer move her arms. DIAGNOSIS: Degenerative Disc Disease, Stenosis, Bone Spurs.
In 1993, she was advised to have cervical surgery, remove 3 bad discs in her neck, replace with cadaver bone, and have the new discs fused. She also wore a neck brace for 12 weeks.
After the recuperative period, she contacted the Arthritis Foundation (per her surgeon’s recommendation) to locate Arthritis Aquatics classes. The wonderful exercises helped her physically: equally important were the beautiful friendships which allowed her to “heal” emotionally. The Arthritis Foundation was an answer to her prayers!
Wishing to “pay it forward”, Chris was trained through the Arthritis Foundation and became a certified Arthritis Aquatics Leader in 1995. She has taught at 6 different facilities, having been responsible for introducing the program to 4 of them.
Chris has also lead 2 Arthritis Foundation Support Groups (watch for an announcement!), has spoken at The Ohio State University, Rotary Club of Reynoldsburg, Ohio Women Legislators, is an Advocate for the Arthritis Foundation, and was sent to Washington, D.C. in 2007 and 2008 to represent Ohio at the Advocacy Summit.
Chris is passionate about helping others feel better through exercise and emotional support. She wants everyone to know there is HOPE!
